TEACHING THE JOYS OF MUSIC TO BEGINNERS OF ALL AGES
COURSES

PIANO LESSONS
Piano performance encompasses everything from musical repertoire to technique, interpretation, and style. There is also an emphasis on physical technique to ensure that students don't develop dangerous and painful playing habits that could lead to injury. Students will learn to read music and learn the basics of sight-reading. They will also learn to improvise on the piano so that they can play without needing sheet music. I will also have recitals that take place during the summer. This gives an opportunity for students to practice their performance skills. As for musical genres, my program is typically classically focused, however, we can certainly explore a wide variety of other genres (such as pop, contemporary, jazz, and much more).

NEW! MUSIC PRODUCTION (and more)
This course is a music course that puts emphasis on creativity, and on gaining a well-rounded skill set in music. It is best suited for students who enjoy making and playing music, and for students who are interested in an artistic career path.

This course has a focus on music production (including recording and making music using a DAW), songwriting, and performance. Students will be encouraged to work on writing their own music, as well as have it professionally recorded and engineered using my studio audio equipment. However, the content of the course varies depending on the student's desired musical path. Some of the additional content can include piano, music theory, live performance/stage presence, audio engineering, ear training, and introductions to voice and guitar. The decision is up to the student.

MUSIC THEORY AND COMPOSITION
All classes are offered for both beginner and intermediate students. When studying theory, the student will learn the fundamental rudiments of music and will apply their knowledge by completing additional exercises in their theory book. This will directly tie into music composition, as the theory will create musical structure in their compositions. Not only will this strengthen their musical understanding, but also further push their creative musical boundaries. Students will also gain a strong foundation in ear training by learning to identify intervals, chords, and more.

ABOUT ME
My name is Amanda Badr, and I've been teaching music to beginner and intermediate students of all ages for over 5 years.
I am a classically trained pianist located in Orleans who has been studying piano and music for over 12 years. I am currently studying in level 9 RCM, and have completed my level 9 RCM examination in music theory. I have also recently graduated from Music Industry Arts at Algonquin College.

I offer lessons in both English and French for all my courses, and I'm also available to teach music theory lessons online. My program is generally in sync with the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music), however, I am more than willing to adapt to whichever program the student would like to follow.

THE GOAL
Learning while having fun!
My goal as a beginner's music teacher is to ensure that all my students build a great musical foundation, all while learning to enjoy and appreciate music. This is important considering the alarming amount of students who run into difficulties later on due to a poor musical foundation. Whether it's injuries, technical issues, or lack in musicality, my job is to make sure my students have all the right tools to improve their musicianship and avoid as many of those issues as possible.
Another important priority is to make sure that my students associate piano playing with having fun! Oftentimes, piano lessons and piano practice can end up becoming dreadful for many students. But if we reduce stress and establish from the beginning that music is about feeling good, then we'll be having students looking forward to their next lesson! This applies to students of all ages, younger and older.
